One of the newest attractions in Singapore is the nature-themed Jewel Changi Airport. Our family got to do some exploring and we decided to try out the new A&W Restaurant.

One of the things I observed in Singapore is: If it has a long queue, it must be good! A&W certainly has its fair share of the queuing customers. From the time we started to queue, to the time we placed our order took about an hour. While waiting, there were some things that would catch your attention as to not to make you bored, like looking at the menu.

At first, I was worried that we might not have a place to eat. There are lots of diners and there’s but a few tables. I was glad to learn that the staff provides a suitable table first before taking your order. That way, you wouldn’t have to worry where to eat once your food arrives.

We ordered two Mozza Burgers, two A&W Cream Cheese Burger, and Golden Aroma Chicken, all with curly fries and with their signature Root Beer Float. I also got a Double Cheeseburger just for a good measure. Overall, the menu is quite simple and limited. Its like a simplified version of a full blown restaurant. Limitation in space, as we’re in a stall at a food court, might be an issue. McDonalds would have easily doubled the food choices. However, having only a few options on the menu gives an impression that they are good to what little they can do. I would expect great tasting food from them.

Root beers were served first. At least I’d have something to sip while waiting for the order to be prepared. When the food arrived, it looked plumed and inviting. The serving size seems generous, as expected on a $10.00 meal. Time to eat!

The queue was so long, plus the wait time for the food to be prepared, and it's on the pricy side of things. There are definitely other options especially if you are really hungry and pressed for time. But if you’re looking for nostalgia, familiar taste, and stories to tell your kids about the time when A&W was as popular as McDonalds, you can head to Jewel. For those who can wait, A&W will have a second store at Ang Mo Kio.
